Why isn't their a link to the forum on the main page?

I just found this forum for the first time by googling "project euler forum", even though I have solving problems off and on for a year or so. Why isn't their a link on the main home page at projecteuler.net?

There is a clear reference to the "alternative phpBB forum" and a direct link: see the contact section.
Is there any particular reason you want it on the main home page?

I agree it would be a good idea to have on the main page. From reading the main page one gets the impression that contact is only there if you want to suggest a new problem. It was only after I solved over 100 problems that I (by accident) clicked the contact link and saw there was a link to this nice forum, which I never knew existed. It is a pity I did not know about it before as I have on several occasions had the urge to write on a forum about PE matters, and I did not even know it was there - does not pop up in the first hits on a Google search either.

I agree; I believe I only ever found this forum via google as well. In fact, after dwaltrip77 posted that message, I thought 'surely there must be a link', and went looking for a few minutes, and found nothing. I would never have expected it to be under 'Contact'; I have never once been to that page on the main site, and would only click a contact link if I wanted to send an email to the site administrators, which is a bit different than discussing things on a forum.

Same experience for me: I only found this forum by accident during a google search, although I had looked around the site quite a bit. I had been a bit surprised that there wasn't a forum, but I presumed it was some sort of policy decision.

It's absolutely not obvious that it would be linked under "Contact".

A "Forum" icon would fit well alongside the other icons ("About", "Problems", "Profile" etc) at the top of each page.

Otherwise am much enjoying the Project Euler experience....

I also found the forums accidentally. It is really not a problem to link to them directly. In my opinion, it would be an improvement to create a direct link.
