Private leagues
Many fantasy football sites include the option to create private leagues, and this provides a good way to motivate new players who are unlikely to make a dent on the global leader boards but might be keen to compare themselves to their friends. I wonder whether such a feature would be useful on Project Euler.

Good suggestion! 
It is an idea I have been toying with for some time, albeit under a different guise, and I have already mentioned it to the team. I was planning to give it some serious thought during the summer break in order to formulate a workable proposal in and to discuss it more fully with the team.

Experience from my own website suggests that having someone suggest an idea I'd already thought of was just about enough impetus for me to great around to doing it 
Hopefully the same will apply here.
