Problem 222 four hours early?
Hi,
As problem 221 was published 1 pm GMT, shouldn't 222 be published 5 pm GMT?
Cheers,
Bjorn

Problem 221 was published on Saturday, problem 222 will be published on Friday. That's our usual schedule, Sat 1pm -> Fri 1pm.

I'm personally a big fan of the current cycling schedule, as it means that only every few weeks will a problem come out at 4 AM for me & everyone gets times whre it "fits" with their daily schedule... Good thinking on that one.daniel.is.fischer wrote:Problem 221 was published on Saturday, problem 222 will be published on Friday. That's our usual schedule, Sat 1pm -> Fri 1pm.

That's true, but a 1pm release happens twice (on different weekdays) in a cycle while other times occur only once each.quilan wrote:I'm personally a big fan of the current cycling schedule, as it means that only every few weeks will a problem come out at 4 AM for me & everyone gets times whre it "fits" with their daily schedule... 222's not such a hard problem, so we decided to ratchet up the difficulty by picking a confusing publication time.

I was expecting for 222 to be a very hard, even devilish problem, since 222=666/3

You're saving the really difficult ones for problems 248 up to 250 ? And then summerbreak after problem 250ed_r wrote:222's not such a hard problem, so we decided to ratchet up the difficulty by picking a confusing publication time.

Somewhat related... Can we expect problems to continue as normal over Christmas?

Not quite as normal. As you guys have plenty of time then, the load is doubled.

But is there a better preparation than sharpening your wits with a couple of PE problems?

True for a lot of maths but I haven't seen any differential equations problems or generally that much calculus.
Although problem 190 was very nice... I would like to see some more calculus problems...

You could try viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1171 without looking at the spoilers. Admittedly not a differential equation, but it is calculus.lster wrote:True for a lot of maths but I haven't seen any differential equations problems or generally that much calculus.
