Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Also, I tried to post that bug yesterday in this forum (i.e., in projecteuler.chat), but every time I pressed submit, it would do a bot check on me, followed by deleting everything I wrote down without posting anything.
EDIT: Even on projecteuler.net, the bot-check is happening more frequently, and once the bot-check completes, it will redirect me to the homepage instead of the page I was trying to navigate to. Redirection to the homepage is new behaviour, at least for me. (And once again, I am having trouble adding this edit due to the bot-check.)

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
@byhill: Thanks for reporting the issue with best posts. That should be working again now as intended.
However, I'm not fully understanding the second issue. Could you clarify what you mean by bot check? Certainly no changes have been made at .chat, so getting redirected to the forum home page seems to suggest that something else is going on. Have you recently changes browsers or installed some add-ons that might be interfering? If you have access to a different browser, do you see the same effects there too?

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Thank you Euler!
As for the bot-check, what I mean is that I get a blank webpage that says "To help us keep this website secure, please wait while we verify you're not a robot! It will only take a few seconds...", before redirecting to the webpage. That verification is quite common for me when I first enter the site, but yesterday and today, it seems to have become quite intrusive both here and on the main PE site.
However, it seems that how intrusive these verifications are depend, at least in part, on if I have a VPN enabled, and if so, where the location of the VPN is set to. So I'm not sure if there is too much you can do about that... I'll notify you though if it gets bad again.
Thanks again!

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Thank you for taking the time to explain. Sadly, that verification is nothing to do with anything I have added, so I can only imagine it has been put in place by our server hosts. I could understand if you're using a VPN and the server detects some anomaly in the originating IP address, but it seems strange if you're getting it without using a VPN. If it does get much worse, please let me know. I'm not convinced they'll be able/willing to do much, but I could ask our hosts for more information.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Hi, I just noticed that https://projecteuler.net/location=Germany and several other location pages (but not all) give me empty results (after a slight delay).
Might be a temporary effect or a sign for a problem with the DB or cache, so perhaps it is worth having a look at.
Update: The problem seems to affect also a growing number of language pages, such as https://projecteuler.net/language=BASIC and many more. From a distance it looks as if something related to the cache update is not working any more.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Just a small issue: It looks like the paperclips are missing on pages 5, 6, 7 of the thread for PE 240. A bug maybe?

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Thanks for the feedback.
Paperclip (direct) links are only found on permanent posts (the first 100 by default) in the threads. Although you can obtain the direct link to any of your own posts from your Progress/Posts page, direct links don't appear next to non-permanent public posts in case someone tries to link to a post (for their own personal reference) that may eventually disappear.
[edit]Only the first 100 posts are kept by default. I originally wrote 200, which has now been fixed.[/edit]

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
I recently started in project euler
until yesterday my highest difficulty level was at 15%
Today I solved 879 (a recent puzzle).
This does not show a difficulty in the info.
When solving a problem after solving 879 it says the highest difficulty I solved is at 25%
However the progress page says highest difficulty level solved is 15 %
This conflicts....

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
The difficulty level of problems is calculated empirically based on the solving speed of the members. Because of that for the last 10 problems the difficulty level has been calculated not yet.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Figured out what the issue is
When I complete a problem I get the attached screenshot.
And when I hover over the blue box with the i it tells me that the 25% rating is achieved on 879 which - according to the previous post - should not have a rating.
The progress page tells me that I do not have solved a 25% puzzle. See the other screenshot.
Given the previous post, I feel the recent puzzles should not be taken into account when reporting the highest difficulty rating on the completion page.
And in any case there is a discrepancy in the info on these pages.

Thank you very much for taking the time to report this issue, FransM. Your description was really helpful in figuring out where I could find the problem. It should now be fixed.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
When I go to the backup website https://projecteuler.info/problem=860, the problem content and the textbox for inputting the answer are not shown.
Please check, thanks.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
First of all, I apologize if this is not the right place for this. The other day I updated my profile, specifically the "Extra Info" part, and all of a sudden when I go to the "Friends" page I appear as "Private Account" even though the corresponding box is (and has been for a while) unchecked. Is this normal? How can I fix this?

Hi, mikhaillomonosov. Thank you so much for letting me know about this. It is certainly not normal behaviour and turned out to be a very interesting bug, which I hope has been squished. Can you please check to see that it is working as expected now?
