Spurious Incorrect Confirmation Code error?

Post by jaap »

When I entered my answer for the latest problem, I did not get a red cross/green tick, but got the problem page again with the message at the top that my confirmation code was correct. At the bottom of the page there was a new confirmation code, but my answer was shown inline instead of an empty answer text box, as if my answer was accepted as correct anyway.
I reloaded the problem 323 page (cleanly without resending the form data), and it seems my answer was accepted. I'm pretty sure I did give the correct confirmation code.

Thanks for reporting that, jaap. I've just tested it to see if it is a general failure and everything seems to be working fine. However, I'd be interested to know if you, or anyone else, sees something similar happen again. It certainly shouldn't have done that.

This has happened for me each time I inserted an answer (13 problems solved). It's always the same, the confirmation code doesn't work the first time I enter it, but always works the second time.

There is a time limit to the confirmation code. If you have the problem page open while you are solving it, it is likely to be invalid by the time you submit your answer. I always reload the page to get a new code before I submit.

Protip -- click the number box to have it auto-refresh without having to reload the page. I always do that before submitting an answer.
