Suggestion: code tag language attribute for filter/search

I have a suggestion that would help me (at least) with the problem forums:

Allow the users to filter the posts by the language/method with which the author self-identifies.

That would be a nice step, and is probably the "complete" approach, since most people have selected a language of choice. (I can't recall if you are required to select one when you register, but most people seem to have one.) However if possible I would like to extend things a little because the language/method used for a solution may not be the language/method identified with the poster.

For example, I like to use "pencil & paper" when possible, but for some problems I have to resort to a programming language. The last few solutions I came up with were with the Unix bc application. I would like to have identified my code solution as being a "bc" solution. There are many ways to do this. One could be as an attribute to a tag, e.g.,

Code: Select all

***
Another way would be to allow users to "tag" their posts, a la any Web 2.0 application. If some people don't use the attribute or tag I am not too concerned: I tend to find that the stuff I like to read is the stuff written by people who take the time to help categorize their work.

The motivator behind my request is that I enjoy reading code, but I prefer to stay within one syntax lest my mental derailer gets stuck between gears.

Cheers,
