Hello!

It looks like all difficulty-related awards got reset; they seem to come back if you manually visit the awards page but otherwise they are gone. For instance, many people who have solved 750+ problems do not have the Easy Prey award, despite almost certainly having at least 25 of 50 easy problems. (I don't know if would be possible to restore it fully, so that people who had 25 of the 50 problems at some point in time will also get the award back?)

In the progress page, the solved problems are coloured in various shades of orange according to difficulty. There are also some, mostly recent problems, that are coloured red. What does that mean? If it is supposed to mean that they don't yet have a difficulty rating, why are for example 643 and 706 red?

@ecnerwal: The rules for the "Easy Prey" award was recently changed. It used to be solve 25 of the fifty easiest problems (based on difficulty rating). You now need to solve the fifty easiest problems. That is, if you sort the problems in ascending order of difficulty, then you need to solve every problem on that page. This was changed because "The Journey Begins" is awarded for solving 25 problems to reach level 1. Assuming members solved problems in that first page, it is almost inevitable that they would earn both at the same time, which made one or the other redundant. However, it's possible that something I've done has caused it to become broken. If that's the case, can you point me to someone you think should have the award, but no longer has it?

@jaap: The most recent problems should all be coloured the darkest shade of orange/brown. If the problems are in red, then it means you must have "pinned" them, unless I'm missing something else.

Oh, is that what it means. I don't really use the pin option, and forgot I had tried it out when it was first introduced.

Anyway, it would be probably be good if that was explained somewhere. Maybe you could just put "12 pinned problems" underneath the table.

I've added some code so that if you hover over the "red" problems it should have the red pin icon next to "Problem XXX". Hopefully that will add some clarity.

Thanks! That would have cleared it up for me.

https://projecteuler.net/progress=radeye;show=awards has none of the four difficulty-related awards. Personally, I re-unlocked the awards the first time I visited the awards page recently.

Interestingly when I visit the progress page for radeye, all of the difficulty awards have been unlocked. So either radeye has visited the progress page recently or there is something strange going on when members are visiting their friend's progress page. The other possibility is that they are being reset when a problem is being solved and only re-unlocked when the progress page is visited. Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate any of these issues, but thank you for letting me know. We'll have to keep an eye on what is happening.

I visited radeye's page.
Could it be that that was what reset it?

It's possible. I'll take a closer look at the weekend when I've got more time. My gut feeling is telling me that there is an issue to do with when members are solving a problem that the previously earned (difficulty based) award is being removed, but visiting the progress page is re-issuing it.

Okay, as I suspected it was to do with some recent changes. It meant that anyone who had already earned a difficulty based award, after solving a recent problem would lose those awards. It could be re-issued by visiting the progress page, but it was an oversight. It should now be fixed and work as expected.

Thank you, ecnerwal, for alerting me to this issue.

I don't know if it has already been reported, but when I sort the problem by chronological order, the page 2 and all the following pages look like this: https://i.imgur.com/7Rc09tb.png but the first page looks like that: https://imgur.com/5z63wMm.png (I'm on firefox, btw).

Wow! I'm surprised that hadn't been reported before. Thank you very much for reporting it. The problem was occurring if your last solved problem was one of the Recent problems. It should be fixed now.

This post in Thread 269 was very recent and has already garnered 100 likes. If we then go to the page of best posts, that post is on the top as expected, but username becomes blank.

When I visited my Progress -> Awards page yesterday, there was a message "You have won the Big Game Hunter award" (or something alike) and the Big Game Hunter award has status "Completed" on this page since then. However, I don't deserve this award yet (how hard I wish I would), the status should be "12/25", which can be confirmed with a look at the Archives page sorted by decreasing difficulty.

Hope this might help you gain some hint on what is happening. Thank you for your work in any case :-)

Thanks for letting me know. It was caused by a small change I'd made elsewhere when I added the capability to show multiple problems on one page recently. It's amazing how interconnected the scripts are! Anyway, I've fixed it which means that sadly you will have lost the award. :(

On the page https://projecteuler.net/progress there are two (very convenient, BTW!) links to https://projecteuler.net/minimal=problems and https://projecteuler.net/minimal=problems;csv.
For some reason, both histories end at problem 779 for me.
No big deal, but I wanted to mention it.

Also: Big congrats to the Euler team for 800 incredibly good problems and a wonderful website!
What an amazing achievement!
I could not imagine living without it any more.
