Just a piece of advice I ran into when solving this problem.

The ray exiting through the opening, does not count as a hit.
(It does say this in the question, but I missed it)

This is the last point I get, rounded. This point is the 160th-170th point I get, hopefully I'm not giving too much away here. Am I anywhere close?

Edit: never mind, I also figured it out instantly. Life would be so much easier if they made holes on both sides..

I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler but my problem was simply that I'd rescaled the ellipse and forgot to rescale the aperture for the white cell accordingly.
