Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Several of us (including me) have been re-awarded "Bright Spark" on more than one occasion. (Also, a question: am I correct in assuming that, like many other awards, the problem contributor awards only count problems in the archives and not in recent problems?)

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
I'm always up for solving puzzles, but you didn't really give me much to go on with this one!
I think that I've identified and fixed the problem (assuming it is where it was happening for you and the others who didn't report it!). Due to the way that awards are checked when you solve a problem, difficulty is not checked when you solve a recent problem. Consequently, the entire set of problem data was not being loaded and it would not be able to check if you had contribution to problems in the Archives. If you had previously earned the award it would be removed. Solving a problem in the Archives or visiting your Progress page would re-award you. Assuming I've not broken something else in the process, it should function correctly now when you solve a recent problem.
In answer to you query... recent problems will also count towards the contributor award.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
I have solved one of every difficulty, and a few days ago I remember checking that I had the Conquering Difficulties award, but now I look at it says I only completed 19/20 difficulties, which is incorrect, and I don't have the award!
Please fix!!!!

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Trying to mesh together so many "competing" systems is quite a challenge. A small, necessary change I made yesterday had a knock-on effect. It should be fixed now. Whenever you visit the Awards section of your Progress page it automatically checks awards, so if you go to that page now, it should re-award you with it. Although, I've probably broken something else now!

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Hi, while submitting problems when I'm required to input a captcha, I get annoyingly often the error message "The confirmation code you entered was not valid":

It is not the result of me mistyping the captcha, but it always happens for problems where I opened the tab first, then worked on the problem and finally submit the answer. The second try is always successful (with a newly generated captcha of course). That is, it seems that if I have the tab opened for quite some time then the captcha "expires" and whatever we type, it will always be wrong, but it gets renewed if I refresh the tab.
It is not a new issue, it was bothering me throughout the whole 2024 :p. But if you don't want to spend too much effort looking into this or there are some reasons why this is an intended behavior, then that's not the end of the world.

Sadly, it's one of the consequences of sessions. Rather than refresh the whole page, you can click on the CAPTCHA to generate a new one. However, I've just modified the JavaScript to refresh the image every 15 minutes. Hopefully this should ensure the session variables remain consistent with the image displayed.

Hi, I think this is a problem with the provider you are using, not with you. But recaptcha isn't working. I solve it, and then it gives me an error. This prevents me from using the website if I encounter a recaptcha. It happens on multiple browsers, and both my desktop and phone.

That is very strange. I've never seen that page and when I visit the site I don't see it now. Did it just randomly trigger? Did it eventually disappear or is it still there for you?

Hi Euler,
Sorry. I think the security verification is triggered by my IP. I was just getting frustrated yesterday because the google captcha didn't even work. It seems to be working again today though.
Thanks you Euler

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
I noted that the difficulty of 786 changed from 95% to 100% today even though it was finalised for a long time already. Is this intended?
EDIT: I have some conjecture. Can it be related to some users switching their accounts from public to private (as discussed here viewtopic.php?t=7810) and the site recalculating problem's difficulty as if less people solved the problem?

Hi,
Recently server time seems getting slow and it is ~1 minute late now. It would be nice to be fixed.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
What are the conditions for the "gold medal" award to be given? Have they changed recently? If it is a check, after you submit the answer, that there is exactly one solver in the list... it might have an amusing bug.
I'd been the first to submit solutions to problems I'd proposed in the past, and not gotten the award (naturally). But this time I just happened to submit at basically the same time as the first solver (though I didn't know it -- I loaded the page with zero solvers and submitted)... and when I did I got the "gold medal" award.
Now I'm not particularly sad about this as I'm unlikely to actually get the gold medal award normally anytime soon, but I feel kind of bad if it's not intended behavior.

No idea how that happened, but thank you for letting me know. Our hosts have looked into it and the server time should now be synced.hos-lyric wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:37 am Hi,

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
On the "Statistics" page it says that approximately 1.3 million people solved at least one problem, but when you enter the "Problems" category it becomes 1.1 million people. Am I missing something here or is this a mistake?

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
The main statistics page shows all members, regardless of private status or public status because it is entirely anonymous. Other statistics pages only include counts for public accounts. However, there is no good reason why the problems statistics needs to exclude private accounts. This will be fixed on my next update.

Thanks for the response!
Will the private accounts also be included in the other categories such as the languages and prizes?

No. This is because the corresponding tables show members in each category. It wouldn't make much sense to have different totals on the category overview page and the table totals. The problems solved data is entirely anonymous.

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
Hey uhh,
I do not have any idea if anyone experiences this aswell, but I think Problem 509 might have some issues with displaying TeX?
The main page shows $S(123456787654321)modulo1234567890$ while the HTML code of this website says $S(123456787654321)$ modulo $1234567890$.
Can anyone verify or disprove my statement?

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
That is very strange. I can only imagine you have some browser plug-in that is interfering with the rendering. I have checked it in a couple of browsers and it renders as it should with both the page source and the HTML being identical. The problem was last edited in 2023, so it hasn't been changed recently. Is it the same for you in other browsers and/or other platforms?

Re: Errors/Warnings/Bugs
The difficulty for problems 895 and 910 in the archives table is rendering weirdly, as a very thin horizontal rule. Is this intentional or a CSS bug?
